Marsooli Research Lab participated in Undergraduate Research Fair

This Research Fair at Stevens provided us with an opportunity to present our research to undergraduate students and introduce them to potential research opportunities within our group. Maria, Azad, and Erfan presented our research focused on coastal engineering and sciences.
Our lab presented at Ocean Sciences Meeting 2024
February 2024
Our lab members, Maria and Erfan, attended the Ocean Sciences meeting in New Orleans and presented the latest findings from our lab. Maria presented a poster on spectral wave climate change and variability and Erfan gave a talk on the optimal design of hybrid vegetation-seawall systems for wave hazard mitigation.
We attended and presented at the 17th International Waves Workshop
October 2023
We traveled to the University of Notre Dame to attend the 3rd International Workshop on Waves, Storm Surges, and Coastal Hazards Incorporating the 17th International Waves Workshop. It provided us with the opportunity to present our work on wave hazards and their coastal impact, and to meet with international storm surge and wave climate researchers at the meeting for the Coordinated Ocean Wave Climate Project (COWCliP) and the SurgeMIP meeting.
Mohammad successfully defended his PhD dissertation
August 2023
Mohammad Jamous defended his dissertation, which investigated hurricane-induced erosion hazards to beach-dune systems in New Jersey under a changing climate. We are grateful to Mohammad's dissertation committee: Professors Muhammad Hajj and Jon Miller from Stevens and Professor Peter Ruggiero from Oregon State University.

Dr. Reza Marsooli received the Educator of the Year Award from ASCE North New Jersey

The Educator of the Year award is annually presented to an outstanding educator who has contributed substantially to civil engineering through knowledge and guidance. Reza Marsooli was honored to be nominated and selected for this award. It was great to see our undergraduate students from the Stevens ASCE student chapter attended the award ceremony.

Our lab presented at the ASBPA National Coastal Conference in Long Beach, CA
September 2022
Mohammad, Reza, and Erfan attended and presentation at the annual National Coastal Conference organized by the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA). Mohammad gave a talk about his research on wave erosional hazards to beaches and dunes and Erfan gave a talk on the benefits of vegetation to mitigate wave runup and overtopping. Reza presented a poster on the U.S. Community Perspectives on Coastal Flooding, which was a collaborative work with the Science and Technology Committee of the ASBPA.
